The 2020 Christmas T-shirt! Doom and gloom stared, complete with ink-black irises. The plump, white waists shame a Victorian woman with crushed organs to shame. A leather heel with a lovely little horn pokes out the ankle. If nothing more shocking, it's because we've seen everything before from the Canadian-based Fecal Matter duo, aka Matières Fécales, to the French translation of their names. The couple behind Fecal Matter, the designers Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran, have released a full collection and it's just as bizarre as Fecal Matter's fans have come to expect, but now a little more elaborate.
It's a mix of old Hollywood gothic and bombshell shades. Bhaskaran poses in a white corset and skirt, and Dalton looks like a charming lady in a bubble pink dress tied by a leash. Their inspiration varies widely. "People wouldn't expect us to go to Marilyn Monroe for beauty inspiration," Dalton said. "But I love synergies, so for us, it's always important." Before the door lock, both were sold once, such as a leather fanny pack with a dildo handle and a torn hoodie with the word Provoke imprinted on the front and the 2020 Christmas T-shirt! Since their DJ gigs and university talks were canceled during quarantine, they could focus on expanding from small commodity drops to a full collection.
