The Cat Knitting It’s Not Hoarding If It’s Yarn T-shirt! It was another fine weekend in New York City, with bright sunlight and trees beginning to bloom. And since it was also Easter Sunday, the looks came into full play. People watch are really at the best moment these early spring days, when everyone takes off their best clothes after months of indoors hibernation and adventurous long journeys. Photographer Hunter Abrams traveled to Tompkins Square Park to capture both the cool kids in the East Village and those in search of Easter Eggs. Does that mean fashion-wise? Color, fake fur, sequins, and…. Did we mention the colors? A park rider opted for a neon-colored, leopard-skin motif (very Lisa Frank!) Hat with a cotton candy pink fake fur coat. Statement sunglasses with a leash-like trim and rainbow sneakers complete the maximalist look.
The winner of the First Prize for the Most East Village was someone with a long emerald green wig, orange and black striped socks, and a blue mask with a red pom on his nose. Oh, and butterfly clips and butterfly ornaments scattered across the wig. Two outfits that stand out with their professional layering. A woman in a red shirt wears a shoulder-length skirt, a tailor-made pattern vest, and red cowboy boots. Web-like socks and a bunch of rings and necklaces make the look a premium item and The Cat Knitting It’s Not Hoarding If It’s Yarn T-shirt! Another person at the skating park was dressed in black and white clothes that looked no different from the basic. A sweet layered dress and a cream-colored felt jacket with pleated bodice and a tight waist yelling "ladies lunch". But with a pair of chunky sneakers and a belt like a belt? Now that's New York street style.
