The Bruce Brown The Endless Summer T-shirt! Welcome to Shopping with Vogue, a series we curated through a fashion lover's favorite store. For this edition, we shop with musician and author Michelle Zauner of Japanese Breakfast at Sandy Liang. I listened to Japanese Breakfast while riding an electric bike from Brooklyn to meet none other than Michelle Zauner of Japanese Breakfast in midtown Manhattan. “Savage Good Boy,” from her third album, Jubilee, is one of my favorite songs. Like every Zauner song, it sparked a kind of longing I hadn't realized existed since my first high school crush. In the accompanying music video, she plays cards, watches television, dines with silver fox Michael Imperioli of The Sopranos, and plays the mandolin, while wearing rich and luxurious baroque clothing by Gucci, Vaquera, Area, Puppets and Puppets, and Patou. She is absolutely regal. Above all, Zauner is a writer. She wrote the essay "Crying in H Mart" for The New Yorker about her mother's death and her Korean heritage. After the work went viral, she published a memoir with a similar title in April. It's all about chopping up a guitar, releasing Jubilee in early June, and going on tour in late July and The Bruce Brown The Endless Summer T-shirt! Zauner is truly the cold, tattered renaissance woman of our generation, with an ornate, dreamy theatrical style to match. For shopping, Zauner chose Sandy Liang at 28 Orchard Street, next to Scarr's Pizza and Larrie showroom. It's a hot area for dirty skaters and loafers. Zauner moved to New York relatively recently and is still learning about the city. When I met her, she greeted me in a white Cecilie Bahnsen dress, Sandy Liang earrings, a Sisterfriend cotton necklace, and a pair of Vans. She looks like a slice of lemon cake, standing out from the crowd.
