When you look at the current male and female actors, and they're expected to look a certain way so that audiences see them the way they want them to, they have to uphold the myth that they're what you see on the screen. pictures, that they are not real. Who believes someone will look the same in 30 years on screen? But there is this kind of standard and we are very much a product of the world we live in. That's the part that I really find weird. In a world, especially one where the younger generation is geared towards transparency, disclosure, and honesty, I don't see why anyone should be ashamed of vanity or keeping up with something. You know, we all have filters on our phones. We all edit and filter our pictures. That is the world we live in. This is like we do it because the audience wants it but the audience wants it because we do. So that's this funny little circle. But what I find frustrating or difficult about that circle is that you can remove the shame and be honest and forthright. It's crazy when an actor or public figure denies that they did something. And they said like, 'Oh, that's olive oil, I shower with seltzer.' It's like, come on. Like all of those things may be true, but they shouldn't be a reason to strangle you.

But look, it's not new. People are always looking towards youth. If you ask most older people what they want to look like, they don't say they want to look older. You know? There is no shame in being old or looking old. It's just an option to want to look younger. I don't think there's any shame in that. There will always be products or treatments, and there will always be some people who like to use those products or things as a means to achieve the aesthetic they like. It's like everything now… starting a dialogue is really what it is. It's funny how many people respond to my post in a way like: 'Thanks for your transparency, your transparency is everything.' I think you just have to start a conversation, and then maybe there's a buzz that makes people feel less embarrassed. I just don't think having shame is useless.
