The Viking Ragnar Pagan Shirt! My brother was running his own company at the time. I'm seeing his everyday life and just want it badly: Freedom to do what you want on your own time. He was the catalyst, urging me to just do one piece at a time. I slowly learned how to sew a suit from my father's sewing company when I was an accountant. I'm 24 years old now, working as an accountant and going out every night. Wanting to have more in life, I learned that I had to really pursue it instead of using this new practice as a hobby. I started sewing more often and using old NBA jerseys that I collected in high school. Ultimately, receiving feedback from outside friends and family motivated me mentally to believe that I could become an artist. I was fortunate enough to be part of the sustainability movement as a designer because my whole premise around sewing started there. I started making my own enhanced NBA pieces and I couldn't copy them at the time. This inadvertently forced my business model to rework customer items. The premise is stronger now: There is sentimental value-added that is not offered elsewhere.Lately, I've fallen in love with furniture and upholstery. Clothes have a shorter lifespan than furniture. Furniture can be used and appreciated by all. The first project I worked on was for my friend Luxury Tax 50 on April 21. I remade four old armchairs with scrap fabric, all of which we found. Two weeks later, he brought in an old Ikea couch he bought from a real estate sale, and I asked if we could do the most. I used 150 towels that I had leftover from an old project to reupholster the couch and The Viking Ragnar Pagan Shirt! My biggest challenge came very early in my full-time design career when I first moved to LA in 2019. An old friend of mine is now a brand coordinator at the University of Miami, and they needed a 20 x 10 canvas wall made. out of Adidas cleats, which they will then paint a mural and hang in their recruitment center. The University of Miami sent me 200 pairs of shoes. I disassembled 400 individual shoes and sewed a pattern of 16 rows with 25 shoes on each. This is my proudest achievement because I was able to do this in my 500 square meter apartment in three weeks, by myself. Literally, a crazy project for anyone to do without even having to consider the timeframe.
