Camping Is Cheaper Than Therapy And You Get S’mores Shirt! Bicep bracelets are back. It's time to take those young arms out to play and adorn them with some trinkets. This past fashion month, the gumball graced the spring 2022 shows. In New York, the bicep bracelet appeared as two elegant yet powerful silver spirals at Tory Burch. In Milan, the jewelry features a Bellissimo diamond carving in Blumarine, where it is created from a swirl of jelly that says "Blumarine" as it wraps around the arm. At Fendi, it appears as a simple gilded geometric strip with an interlocking F. At Prada, the bracelet comes in the form of a thick band with a buckle, which fits well over shirts and on bare skin. The bracelet holds a special place in my heart, or rather an arm. It was a daring piece of jewelry; surrounding the fleshy upper limb like the rings of Saturn. And that biceps area? It seems benign at first, like under the wrist, but it is a tender, even erotic hot spot. When it's decorated, it reminds me of the finishing touches of the accessories perfected by the plump kids of early '00s music videos. A few months ago, learned of my obsession with jewelry on biceps, @bestoftrr aka Serena Morris sent me a blurry screenshot from “Beautiful ft. Pharrell Williams”.
There stretched across the sands of Rio de Janeiro, bathed in sunlight, was a trio of girls in skimpy bikinis; one of them was wearing a sturdy and flashy bracelet. No one worries about how their arms look; it's just simple fun. It is complete freedom on the subject. Speaking of its early 00s guests, the bicep bracelet was all the rage throughout the naughties. Perhaps it was someone who tamed the arm tattoo craze of the times. (Not everyone was able to pull off the crown of thorns that surrounded Pamela Anderson's arm. she did, however, remove it.) In lieu of anything permanent, bracelets were seen on the likes of Aaliyah, Nicole Kidman, and Janet Jackson, Camping Is Cheaper Than Therapy And You Get S’mores Shirt! who wore a regal version of the jewelry. Years later, it's back, at least on the runway. It's only a matter of time before Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid or Zoë Kravitz adorn their upper arms, but in the meantime, the accessory is already looming over our radars. Last summer, a plain bracelet was spotted on the newly launched Mary-Kate Olsen. Designer Row wore a silver arm-hugging bracelet along with a black jacket and white jeans. (My colleague Steff Yotka calls it “the post-divorce bracelet.”) Totally free with a bohemian flair. The only problem? At least there aren't too many bracelets on the market. In the meantime, you can make your own DIY version and put a regular bracelet on your arm. It is quite flexible.
