What really struck me was that Emily's outfit doesn't reflect the way young women are dressed in 2020. Throughout the show, we're constantly told that Emily isn't chic and even led to believe it. she's not really interested in fashion at all, I won't forget Sylvie's horrifying burn: She has no references.
Even if I'm on par with Netflix and accept that she's not supposed to be good at this, Emily is a knowledgeable, observant woman and a proven social butterfly. She won't just miss the nuances and changes in the way her friends and colleagues dress. Called a social media expert, she will likely spend a lot of time on Instagram, following major Parisienne influencers like Jeanne Damas, Sabina Socol, and Leia Sfez. And as a journalist and a marketer, Emily is sure to read her fair share in magazines and websites, and will likely rely on the Vogue Runway app for updates on the Week and The Zach Bryan Don’t Be Naive T-shirt! Paris fashion festival. She's going to handle pretty well what's relevant right now. However, her wardrobe is a jumble of unrecognizable old clothes and outlandish accessories.
