Jasmine Monsegue, aka Spacebrat artist, will paint almost anything: a beautiful portrait of a nude woman on a vintage lover, a bikini woman on a canvas, a tropical alien escape on canvas, and even elegant floral designs on a pair of Nike Sneakers. The 26-year-old has gone so far as to paint a realistic portrait of the late Lisa "Left Eye" on a T-shirt, which is on display at the gallery in London's Harlesden Street. Now, she describes her style as "circus fantasy". Her first attempt at airplanes was in 2018 when she was trying to make Halloween shirts for her friends. It didn't go as planned. “It was frustrating to work with the machine,” she said. "But it makes me attractive to keep working." Currently, Monsegue thinks of her outfit as a canvas with no boundaries, blending into whatever is on her mind. Her creations often have sexy ghostly themes that she draws from horror films. For Los Angeles-based label No Sesso, she created a gorgeous skirt-and-shoulder shirt dress with a gas-embroidered devil dragon on the front, as well as a '70s style jacket. with fur trim and lining dotted with pointed stars that resemble spiderwebs. Monsegue also cites Jean Paul Gaultier, who often infuses a layered image into his designs, as an inspiration. “There was a way that he would use a darker image, but on a chic dress,” she said. Montague's work sells out quickly, and each piece is unique and special. “It happened so fast,” she said. “I want to do more on a larger scale.” So maybe that rarity wasn't always the case.
