I never told my client about our meeting at the National Gallery of Art. I was clerking for Judge Robert Wilkins, whose chambers were in the same federal courthouse as Judge Jackson at the time. She and I had met years earlier for dinner, and when she learned I was working in the building, she graciously invited me to lunch.
