She sources second-hand, second-hand, and used textiles locally and will always use leftover fabrics from her previous collections in the next. As for the sweat, Hanley wanted to streamline the technique she calls the "collage system," which involves cutting apart a piece, like a hoodie, so that it becomes the raw material. Hanley cuts a piece of clothing into strips, stacks them, and then collages them together into the shape of sweatpants. She sews it together and then sends it to the Garment District to be finished by other professionals.
