The Hogwarts Magic School Harry Potter Shirt! Yes, I really like the look. That's the only thing the flight attendant job did for me. I will actually get dressed. I mean, the whole bit. After that, I worked for [ad agency] Rubicam Young, and since then, they have given me small jobs to do. I worked for a long time for Maureen's sister. Finally, I got tired of the business. It became too promotional for me, and at one point I was ready to leave. As you know, it can be very tiring. Especially when you're starting out and trying to get recognized. One night I talked to Edward Enninful about this [was at the i-D magazine at the time] and he basically convinced me to stay in the industry and get a second wind! He said come and do a few shots for us and see if you really want to keep doing this.
It really sparked things for me, and from there it led me to shoot with David LaChapelle and then Steven Klein, and then Vogue Italy. It's because of David LaChapelle. People don't know that. He's the one who pushed Franca to work with me. It was extraordinary that Franca had called him because he was such an underdog at the time. [When Patti arrived] she said to him, "Oh, no, I have my editor." And he said, "No, I have to do this to her." That was around 2002, 2003. I did two shots. I did this crazy... Oh, I should bring you some pictures! I did this crazy shoe shot, and we used Alek Wek. It was as funny as it could be. I love it. Too different from Italian Vogue. The Hogwarts Magic School Harry Potter Shirt! And then I did another shot, where we went to this crazy island, which David thought was going to be awesome. And we come here and it's like the size of this restaurant, the whole island. It's hysterical because you can barely fit any equipment on it. But it's great. It was really great. We did a twin thing. The girls must look alike.
