The t-shirt's raw materials are sourced from superfine 19.5μ Merino wool from three regenerative sheep stations in New Zealand: Lake Hawea Station, Middlehurst Station, and Omarama Station. The farms are at the forefront of regenerative farming and land management, and apply feeding and grazing techniques to capture more CO2e from the atmosphere than their operations emit, NVDshirt says. This results in carbon-free wool yarn, which is then processed by the brand's partners in Europe, who spin, manufacture the garments, and operate the logistics using 100% solar energy.
NVDshirt also points out that to ensure a zero-waste production process, each t-shirt is created by Portugeuse's knitting expert Fatetil using a 100% solar-powered full 3D knitting machine. In addition, the brand claims the self-cleaning properties of Merino wool and its zero odor retention ensuring that emissions from washing and drying are also kept to a minimum.
