Butterfly I Am An Imperfect Person Loved By A Perfect God Shirt! Last week, Lily Rabe embarked on a press tour for her latest film The Tender Bar, making her first press appearance since the pandemic began. While the idea of a red carpet makeover after more than a year of absence was certainly a challenge on its own, the actress was also navigating the red carpet while pregnant with her third child with partner Hamish Linklater. She told Vogue that she is still very much in the process of finding her maternity style. "I've worked through all of my pregnancies, but I've never done a full press interview," says Rabe. “The outfit for two is completely new. I've always enjoyed collaborating with my stylist, Jessica [Paster], but this is a new level of collaboration. The Tender Bar holds a special place in Rabe's heart. Directed by George Clooney and starring Ben Affleck, the project tells the story of J.R. (Tye Sheridan), a boy growing up on Long Island who searches for his father figure among patrons at a bar owned by his uncle (Affleck). Rabe said that she was immediately drawn to the script because of its touching and relatable themes.
“It's a beautiful coming-of-age story. The main character is looking for something he feels he is missing,” said Rabe. "Through the course of the film, he realizes that he has everything that he needs and I think there's a real bitterness to that right now." She also admires the strength of her character. "I've never played anyone like her," she said. "She's a mother of an only child, she has incredible willpower and optimism despite her bad circumstances and she continues to be knocked down." For the film's press tour last week, Butterfly I Am An Imperfect Person Loved By A Perfect God Shirt! Rabe wanted to convey the film's message of hope through the clothes she wears. She and Paster opted for vibrant, playful dresses, which proves that the maternity-hugging style doesn't have to mean staying away from bold prints and colors. "We both feel that this doesn't mean we have to suddenly change the way we feel about the clothes we love," says Rabe. “We don't see [my pregnancy] as an obstacle. It's like an opportunity to work with designers in a new capacity — with different waist measurements! ” Paster adds, “We wanted [the dresses] to be feminine with strong silhouettes. We love embracing the bump. "
