The University Of Waterloo Logo Shirt! When I was just an elementary student in Whittier, I remember waking up on Fridays and wearing black and yellow shirts with splatter paint and Sidney's "S" block. At the time, my personal favorite was the shirt I received after attending the middle school cheerleading clinic. At school, I would see my friends in the same color scheme and with all the different styles and sports displayed on it. These t-shirts are so important to Sidney's culture that they've been fired from cannonballs at football games. The students would be frantically waiting to catch them and when we did it was a big win. At Sidney City Schools, every Friday is Spirit Friday. There's black and gold everywhere. While I'm still on Spirit Fridays, now that I'm in high school, I understand - I believe - that school spirit means more than just wearing a t-shirt.
Now when I put on the Sidney shirt, I know I'm representing something much bigger. I am representing a community of people who have always supported me. There have been seasons where I took this support for granted. There are Fridays when I forget or just choose not to wear my Sidney shirt. The school wasn't always my favorite thing. Honestly, I've never loved homework. Most teenagers don't. Even so, I can't think of a time when the teachers at Sidney didn't really go out of their way to make my experience as a student the best it could be and The University Of Waterloo Logo Shirt! Over the years, I have not only learned the ABC and Pythagorean theorems but also met some of the most amazing people – friends and teachers. I learned how to write a thesis and how to avoid a dangerous chemical reaction. I also learned how to navigate in a world full of people with different points of view. I learned when to wait my turn and when to take the lead. I became the person I am today because my small town and school district didn't always get the credit they deserved.
